An Akala Chapel wedding is perfect for couples wanting an air-conditioned wedding venue in Waikiki with an option to have their wedding reception on the property.

Akala Chapel has floor-to-ceiling windows, is well lit, and is spacious. It’s an intimate setting. There’s a tranquil waterfall in front, and a handful of photo locations for the bride and groom, as well as group shots.

Having Your Wedding at the Akala Chapel at the Hilton Hawaiian Village

If it’s convenience you’re after, the Akala Chapel should be a prime contender for your Oahu wedding venue. Located in the heart of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, it’s a beautiful chapel close to all the nearby hotels.

It’s ideal for a destination wedding or a local wedding. You can enjoy your wedding day with all the tropical beauty of Hawaii, yet be protected from the elements. You and your guests will stay comfortable and have the amenities of one of Waikiki’s finest hotels.

After having your wedding ceremony in the chapel, you could have your reception merely a short stroll away.

The Rainbow Suite and Patio (as seen in the video above) make an ideal reception venue. For couples having an intimate ceremony but a larger reception, there are larger ballrooms that can accommodate larger groups.

Disadvantages of the Akala Chapel

If you dream of beach photos, you may want to plan a photoshoot away from the venue. The hotel is beachfront, but it’s too crowded to get a variety of shots without other people in the frame.

You will be able to find an area to get some photos/video, and the lagoon area is an option.

Overall, the beach is better here than at other Waikiki beach hotel venues, but it’s not really a spot for amazing beach photos, which are often important for destination wedding couples.

Conclusion

For an intimate setting in the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, the Akala Chapel is a good choice as a wedding venue. I prefer outdoor venues that really show off the beauty of Hawaii, such as Lanikuhonua or Loulu Palm Estate, but the Akala Chapel scores big points for its prime Waikiki location and convenience. If I wanted a chapel wedding, I would definitely consider it for my wedding day.
