Loulu Palm Estate

Loulu Palm is on Oahu’s North Shore, about 60 to 70 minutes from Waikiki and sometimes more when traffic backs up. It’s worth giving your guests a heads up about the drive, and for most weddings I’d recommend a shuttle so nobody is worrying about the road home after sunset.

The North Shore feels different from the rest of Oahu. It’s more rural and more secluded, and getting married out here gives the day a real destination feeling without leaving the island. The property actually sits between Mokulēʻia and Waialua, not in Haleʻiwa town proper, so if you’re picturing the Haleʻiwa shops and food trucks, those are a few minutes east of the property. Most couples and their guests stay around Haleʻiwa or Turtle Bay, which keeps everyone within a reasonable drive.

A handful of private venues on Oahu sit at the top of everyone’s list, and Loulu Palm is one of mine. What I love is how much it gives you in one place: a secluded beachfront lawn, a vintage Hawaii house for getting ready, and palm trees framing almost every shot.

Most couples get ready on-site. The house has welcome suites, so you don’t have to travel to the venue fully dressed. The bridal suite is the larger space and perfect for a small wedding party, and there’s a second room nearby, close enough to coordinate but private enough to hide the bride before the first look.

The ceremony spot is the lawn near the secluded beach. It’s beachfront without being on the sand, slightly elevated and looking out over turquoise water, and I love how the palm trees on the left frame the view and give it a more intimate feel.

There’s a lot of room for the reception. It’s easy to fit a bar, a dance floor, mingling space, lawn games, and even a malasada or shave ice station, and you’re close enough to step out for sunset photos. For smaller groups, the deck area works beautifully.

For portraits, the lush lawn and the beach right out front mean you don’t have to go far for variety. The palm trees and foliage to the left of the ceremony area are great for intimate portraits, and one of my favorite shots is a top-down drone clip of a couple walking between the treeline and the palms. Even the getting-ready house has old Hawaiian charm and better light than most.

One detail that’s easy to miss: Loulu Palm plants a loulu palm seedling for your wedding. They put a tree in the ground for your day. It’s a small, rooted thing that fits the place perfectly.

Loulu Palm has their own rental equipment company that you’ll work with for chairs, tables, lighting, and other event rentals. The basic Garden Teak package starts at $4,950 for 100 guests or under. Couples who want to bring in outside rental companies, or who have strong preferences for specific vendors, may find this approach restrictive. For couples who prefer a more turn-key experience where most rentals come from one place, it’s actually a convenience.

The property is also fully outdoor. The included 10x10 marquee tent covers a small area, and larger tent rentals are available through Loulu Palm Weddings if you want full coverage for the ceremony or reception. Weather contingency planning is worth thinking about, especially for winter weddings when North Shore Oahu sees more rain.

Loulu Palm also offers the Petite Retreat, a modified-day option for smaller weddings. It’s a 10-hour rental for up to 35 guests, starting at $2,750 on weekdays or $3,750 on weekends. Couples who want the Loulu Palm experience without the full 12-hour package may find it a better fit. There’s also a Lanai-only option starting at $550 for couples who just want the deck space without full property use.
