When you lock in your venue, it's best to secure your vendors. I'm booked up to two years in advance. Saturdays are the most popular day. Sunrise and morning elopements can be booked more at the last minute. Basically, if you have your date and venue booked, you should lock in your vendors.
Yes, I travel to outer islands. I do not charge a travel fee for five-hour and all-day packages, but I do shoot those weddings by myself.
Yes, I offer elopement videography. I also have members of my team who can handle elopements.
It depends. Let me know what you're thinking. Always up for something new.
I require a 10% deposit to secure your date, with the remaining balance due seven days before your wedding. If you'd like to make payments along the way, you'll just need to let me know what dates to set.
Your deposit is more of a retainer and is non-refundable. Nothing else is due if you cancel.
The highlight film is the cinematic version of the day. It's the fun one that you're used to seeing for wedding videos. The ceremony is the full ceremony, captured from start to finish with the audio.
Usually 4–6 minutes. It depends on the day. Longer is not better when it comes to highlight videos. You want your video to be fun and engaging.
I try to get your wedding videos to you around 8 weeks after your wedding. My goal is always to deliver sooner, but I do not want to rush, of course.
All the films are in 4K except the short Reel-style videos, which are in 1080p. Those are meant for social media, and social media platforms are known to compress 4K footage, making it look worse than 1080.
I use a platform called Vidflow. It's pretty. :)
I need to use licensed music for your highlight film. For the social media style videos, those can be edited for popular music found on the platforms. I ask for your input on your questionnaire after you book. I want you to love your videos, so I always appreciate your input.
I love special requests. That makes it easier to make sure you love your videos.
I ask you what you prefer. It's one of the questions in your questionnaire. Most couples want some audio from the day included, like vows or speeches. If you want only music, no problem. Totally up to you.
Every package includes a cinematic highlight film, full ceremony film, reception video of important moments such as the entrance, dances, cake cutting, and speeches/toasts, and social media videos — a one-minute highlight in horizontal and vertical formats, plus two short Reel-style videos.
I include it. I fly the drone a lot. I believe that you are the stars of the show, but you probably want to show off the incredible beauty of Hawaii and your venue, which the drone does really well. I'm licensed.
It's mostly about time.
If you need more time, please let me know. Usually around 9 hours is perfect for a full day of coverage. For my five-hour package, it's possible to add an hour.
I do, but it's challenging. I stopped advertising it, but I can make that happen for you if you need it.
I work well with photographers. We'll work side-by-side, and I love your attention mostly on them. That lets me get those natural-looking shots, and it helps the photoshoot go smoothly. You don't want a videographer who directs all day. That'll affect your photos. You want a videographer who knows when to make suggestions and give ideas, but we're there to capture the day in the most natural and beautiful way possible.
A lot. I usually bring five cameras and a drone. I want a small footprint, and having a few cameras placed on tripods out of the way is actually a way to capture moments while not being too upfront and center. I love prime lenses, so I mix the focal lengths and plan for your venue, always trying to capture a lot in the process.
I'm on Sony and DJI. My primary camera is the Sony FX3, and I also have an A7SIII and FX30s. I always fly the latest DJI Mavic series drone.
No, I do not attend the rehearsal.
While it's rare for rain to affect a wedding, we do get the occasional passing shower. Usually, we take cover for 30 seconds and then carry on. If there's rain, I still do my best to keep shooting.
I use lights, but I try not to ruin the mood. I do not like to shine the light in your guests' eyes, and my cameras are known for excellent low-light performance. I typically light the reception space with the speeches in mind, and then I turn the lights off when the dance floor opens.
Yes, please tag me if you post your wedding videos on Instagram (@bishopmedia_). For Instagram, I recommend 1080p. Instagram is known to compress 4K footage, making it look pixelated. This may change in the future.
Yes. Edit requests are possible. Honestly, it's rare. I want you to love your videos forever, so if you feel something is off or you have a specific request, I'd prefer you ask.
One year. I recommend uploading all your videos to YouTube immediately after receiving them. You can keep them private. You should also put them on a couple of thumb drives, and maybe gift those to parents who will also hold on to them.
Cinematic wedding videography uses slow-motion, audio components, a variety of angles, colors, editing style, and emotion to create a dreamy, artistic film. Documentary-style wedding films are more chronological and often less dreamy. Don't get too hung up on the technical differences — if you're looking at a videographer's portfolio and like the style of the videos, that's what's most important.
I recommend watching at least a few full wedding videos from videographers to see how they shoot weddings, and ask your videographer how much they deliver. If you choose only based on reviews or recommendations, there's no guarantee your wedding film will turn out the way you want. Watching the portfolio is the wise thing to do.
I'm happy to give recommendations for other vendors. I have a post on Oahu wedding officiants, and I'm happy to send you a list of my favorite photographers, planners, DJs, etc. The best way is to send me a message on Instagram — that way I can send you profiles, making it super easy for you to check them out.
