La Pietra is one of the most distinctive wedding venues on Oahu. A private school at the foot of Diamond Head with the feel of an Italian villa, it gives you stone courtyards, fountains, and a wide green lawn, all just minutes from Waikiki. The first time I filmed here, it felt like I had stepped off the island entirely.

La Pietra sits at the foot of Diamond Head, just minutes from Waikiki. It was originally the Dillingham Estate, designed by the architect David Adler with architecture reminiscent of an Italian villa, and today it is home to the Hawaiʻi School for Girls at La Pietra.
The grounds carry that history. Stone walls, courtyards, fountains, and mature landscaping give the property a sense of place you do not find at many Oahu venues.
Because it is so close to town, the logistics are simple. Guests staying in Waikiki can reach it in roughly 10 to 15 minutes, which is a real convenience for a destination wedding where most people are coming from the same area.
La Pietra is one of the more distinctive places I have filmed on Oahu. The estate blends Italian architecture with Hawaii’s tropical surroundings, and after I shot my first wedding there, it honestly felt like I had just filmed my first Italian wedding without ever leaving the island.
The courtyard makes a beautiful setting for a ceremony, with the arches and stonework framing the couple, and the large lawn is perfect for a reception that runs into the evening. There is a lot of texture to work with here, which is a gift for wedding videography: warm stone, greenery, and palm trees.
I also love how close it is to Waikiki. Most of your guests are likely staying in town, and being only a short drive away makes the whole day easier on everyone.
La Pietra is a beautiful venue, but it does ask you to plan around a few things.
First, you can’t have a party dance floor here. Amplified music must end by 9 pm out of consideration for the surrounding neighborhood, so build your timeline with that in mind. It affects how long the reception can run, and an earlier ceremony helps you make the most of the evening.
Second, the venue requires a professional event planner, liability insurance, and one or more off-duty police officers for every event. These add coordination and cost, so factor them into your budget and your vendor list early.
Finally, the campus has to be returned to its pre-rental condition before the gates close at 11 pm, so your vendors will need to plan breakdown accordingly. None of this is a dealbreaker, but it does reward couples who plan ahead.
La Pietra charges a campus use (space rental) fee, which as of June 2026 runs from $3,800 plus tax for a four hour event up to $13,150 plus tax for fifteen hours, with a twelve hour option at $10,600 plus tax. This covers use of the grounds only, not catering, rentals, or services like videography. A security deposit is also required ($1,000 for events up to four hours and $2,000 for longer events), and the campus use fee is due in full two weeks before the wedding. Always confirm current rates with the venue.
