How to Capture Your Proposal on Video
I have created countless Oahu proposal videos and thousands of Hawaii wedding videos over my career. The key to a great video is a happy couple, and there’s no happier time than after saying “yes” to marrying the love of your life.
That said, there are some things to know when planning your proposal. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Work with an experienced photographer. For videography to be as great as it can be, your photographer needs to be experienced in proposals. Choose a quality photographer, such as Right Frame Photography.
- Get audio by making a plan to have a wireless mic on you. I like to do this by meeting in the beach restroom right before the proposal or in the parking lot. For the latter, tell your partner you left something in the car and run back. This needs to be planned beforehand in order to run smoothly.
- Get drone coverage for your proposal. Why not, right?
Proposal Video Deliverable
I believe most proposals require two videos:
- Proposal Video – this is the video with all the audio. Some couples prefer to save this for themselves, but others like to share.
- Highlight Video – this is the pretty video that couples like to share with friends and family.
Sometimes, one video is enough. If the moment is too emotional for lots of words, or if the proposal is short and sweet, it’s enough to combine the proposal with the highlight moments together in one proposal video. However, most couples prefer two videos.
